Description: Gyromitra esculenta, known as the false morel or brain mushroom, is a wrinkled, reddish-brown fungus that resembles a true morel but contains a deadly toxin that can cause liver failure and death. Though still eaten in some regions after parboiling, it remains highly dangerous and is best avoided altogether.
